December 20-21, 2033||Received a message that our room was ready around 12:00 pm, easy check in. Huge room, high ceilings, window looking over the side street. Parking on Esplanade, right in front of MM....2 blocks to Bourbon Street. …
We had high hopes. The check-in was smooth and we were even able to get our room early in the day with no hassle. We were walked over to the building with our room and first disappointing surprise. Most of the building is under construction. We are promised it wouldn’t happen over the weekend but it still makes it a very dusty and messy environment. Next strike was the elevator, a tiny a scarily slow ride to the third floor. Then one more flight carrying our bags to what was a large bright airy top floor room. Yes it had a kitchen with high end appliances. Unfortunately the fridge didn’t get cold and freezer door wouldn’t close so it didn’t stay very cold either. But the room was large, comfortable, and clean. We came late that night to alarms going off in our building. We walked to the main building to find a security guard who seemed in no rush to find out why a fire alarm was going off. She had her phone blaring music and was sick and had literally no voice. Not sure how useful she would be if a real emergency came up given the lack of voice. She walked over to our building to turn off the alarm and showed us how she did it. Did she think that if it went off again I would be assuming the responsibility of disabling the alarm? We then proceeded to our room (skipping the scary elevator) and were taken aback by the smell of paint in the hallways. We made it through the night with no alarms but again the next evening, this time around 9pm, another alarm. We survived the weekend, and then on departure day, construction was back in full gear. We had no working elevator to move our luggage down the 3 flights of twisting and nonstandard height stairways, as the construction crew commandeered the elevator.
This could be a nice place but we were disappointed to lay over a lot of money for the weekend to be in a live construction site with inoperable elevator, dirt, questionable safety, and no real service. We should’ve been notified of this interior construction and allowed us to make a choice on staying. Unfortunately this was forced upon us. Definitely will not stay again.
The staff was great and very accommodating… the location is walking distance (if you like to walk) from most scenic locations. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable… however, they meed to update outlet plugs and add USB connection. I would also ask for a full mirror in the room and better lighting in the bathroom.
The location is great, close to the French Quarter and Frenchman Street (for jazz clubs), and the house itself is interesting with a historic flair. However, it is managed with little care and imagination. Our room (Classic Deluxe, which …
Very unique hotel. I loved everything about it, it was very peaceful. I will definitely stay here when I visit French Quarters again. I would recommend everyone to stay here if they like a quiet atmosphere but within 1 mile to all the excitement.
We had celebrated our wedding here in 2019 and had a wonderful experience here. Things have gone significantly downhill since. Our room was not what we booked, nor did it even resemble the photos advertised online, the bathroom was filthy, …
The room was spacious and clean. They were very helpful in storing our luggage (we arrived before check in and left for the airport after checkout) so we could explore the area easily. They also offered us coffee and tea while we waited for our ride to the airport
